About Us
SHINE, STRONG WOMEN!
The meaning of our name originates from an old African proverb: If you strike a woman, you strike a rock. We aim to embrace this philosophy and combine it with science to achieve our objective: the upliftment of the community through research.
Empowering the Community
The essence of what we strive to achieve at our clinic is a balance between empowering the community and improving the standard of living, while embracing science and using it to our best advantage. We are focused on people, reaching those in need, and creating a better world.
Qhakaza means to shine or to bloom—and we want that for the local community, to stand out and flourish.
Mbokodo is the rock or grinding stone—a symbol of resilience, especially among women, who continue to thrive even in challenging circumstances.
Qhakaza Mbokodo Research Clinic is situated in the heartland of the ancestral home of the Zulu people, in uMnambithi, KwaZulu-Natal. The town is strategically located halfway between the port of Durban and the industrial hub of Johannesburg.
At our research clinic, we conduct carefully designed clinical studies to explore new treatments, medications, and interventions. Our goal is to contribute to the development of safer and more effective healthcare options.
The clinic has conducted clinical research since 2007 and consists of 52 trained staff members, each equipped with the necessary skills to advance medical research and community well-being.
